PM Mottley on the TIMES List of The 100 Most Influential People of 2022
I had just sat down at my desk to write this week’s blog article when an image popped up on my phone that simply could not be ignored. The image in question was one of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley of Barbados. Regular readers of The Manager Level UP are aware that I have often referenced PM Mottley as an example of effective leadership. Well, with the power of conviction on her side and her fierce determination to be the best possible advocate for her people and her principles, Prime Minister Mia Mottley is having a global impact as evidenced by her designation by TIMES Magazine as one of The 100 Most Influential People in 2022.
The List in question features six categories – namely artists, innovators, titans, leaders, icons and pioneers. The list showcases twenty-three influential leaders globally including Ukranian President Zelensky, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The task of writing PM Mottley’s feature went to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). This Nigerian-born global leader opened her article with the following paragraph;
There are some who stand tall and stand out no matter where they are from—whether a large, densely populated country or a small island nation. Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados is one such person. Bold, fearless, and possessing a great intellect and wit, the Prime Minister is a brilliant politician who knows how to shake things up.
